BGB TEACHER – CHRIS CHALK
Born in Asheville, NC, Chris Chalk is an actor and filmmaker currently living in Los Angeles. Chris studied acting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro however it was his work in New York City with LAByrinth theatre company and his seven years as a reader for a high profile casting agency that really enhanced his education. Some of Chalk’s acting credits include the Emmy award winning Homeland, Aaron Sorkin’s Emmy nominated THE NEWSROOM, FOX’s Gotham, USA’s COMPLICATIONS, WGN’s UNDERGROUND, Kathryn Bigelow’s DETROIT, Steve McQueen’s Oscar Award winning 12 YEARS A SLAVE and LILA AND EVE starring alongside Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez. Chalk can currently be seen in on Netflix in RED SEA DIVING RESORT alongside Chris Evans and also in Ava Duvernay’s Emmy nominated Netflix mini-series WHEN THEY SEE US.
Some of Chalk’s theatrical credits include Roundabout’s THE OVERWHELMING, Lincoln Center’s WHEN I COME TO DIE directed by Thomas Kail, Manhattan Theatre Club’s DEFIANCE written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Doug Hughes, Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize winning RUINED and the Tony Award winning revival of FENCES starring alongside Viola Davis and Denzel Washington for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and received a Theatre World Award.
Chalk’s directorial feature debut FAREWELL will hit the festival circuit in 2020. Chalk is currently in development for a horror anthology called WALNUT COVE and a feature film revolving around America’s veterans currently titled CURTIS. Chalk is currently filming HBO’s new look at Perry Mason alongside Matthew Rhys, Tatiana Maslany and John Lithgow.
