BGB TEACHER – HAYES MERCURE
Being from Georgia and a Southern man at heart, Hayes was raised on the religion of the South—sports and hard work. Football became his calling card and he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play in college at both Auburn University and University of West Georgia. After graduating with a degree in Business Marketing, Hayes felt the calling to serve so he joined the Fayette County Fire Department in GA where he became a Firefighter/EMT.
Two years into the job, a fellow firefighter asked, “what would you do if money didn’t matter?” It was that moment when Hayes answered his calling.
He began training as an actor on his days off from firefighting and developed a fast and deep love for the craft. He booked his very first audition was for an ongoing, professional theater production in Atlanta called PEACHTREE BATTLE. He went on to perform in the show 4 nights a week for over 8 months, which he describes as some of the best training he could have asked for. PEACHTREE BATTLE went onto become the longest-running play in Atlanta history, surpassing DRIVING MISS DAISY and running for more than 8 years straight.
After he left the show, Hayes dove into the film and television market in Atlanta and found some early success in films: NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VAN WILDER: FRESHMAN YEAR and THE JONESES, as well as working on Lifetime’s DROP DEAD DIVA.
In 2009, Hayes was accepted into Drama Studio London and attended their one-year classical theatre program which focused on Shakespeare, Chekhov, Restoration, and Ensemble work.
In 2011, the West Coast was calling and Hayes departed for Los Angeles with everything he owned and his dog riding shotgun.
At the advice of his manager, Hayes attended The Audition Revolution at The BGB Studio and it was the most pivotal decision of his career. Here he discovered the depths of his passion for acting through Risa and Steve and career success soon followed.
He has since worked as a recurring role on Sundance Channel’s THE RED ROAD, recurring on NBC’s DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and returned to Lifetime’s DROP DEAD DIVA for two more episodes. He guest starred on the VH1 series HINDSIGHT and has also worked on FOX’s NEW GIRL and the PBS civil war series MERCY STREET.
Some of his film credits include Netflix’s MASCOTS directed by Christopher Guest, TERM LIFE starring Vince Vaughn, and HEADLOCK opposite Diana Agron.
Taking a class with Hayes is not an audition or employment opportunity and there is no suggestion or guarantee of an audition or employment as a result of taking his class.
