Each week you’ll engage in a new way in which to explore your unique voice, to get personal, specific, and bold, and to challenge your resistance. Facing your fears and your resistance is essential in finding freedom and honesty in your work.

You will be guided through your 8-week journey by our amazing BGB Master Teachers. Here is an outline of what’s to come!

Class 2 – Finding Connection: Explore a deeper connection to your instincts, your partner, and your audience.

Class 3 – The Real Audition Room: You’ve never seen the audition process like this.

Class 4 – Your Unique Voice: Find your own beautiful, unique voice in the work, from the audition room to the sound stage.

Class 5 – The Power of Choices: Discover how to make bold choices and take total ownership of those choices.

Class 6 – Total Freedom: Unleash your power through improv for the scripted audition.

Class 7 – Make It Personal: Step into your own powerful point of view; use your individual narrative to harness your authentic self and light up the room.

    For the past 35 years Risa has worked consistently as a director, producer, casting director, writer, and teacher in the arenas of theatre, film, and television. She has the great fortune to collaborate with some of the most talented, passionate, and groundbreaking artists in the world. She is dedicated to helping actors find their distinctive voice in their work so that they can enter into any room or stage with power and ease.

  • Jami Rudofsky
    Jami RudofskyTeacher

    Jami has been casting for over 20 years and has worked in every medium. She has previously cast Season 4 of MASTERS OF SEX. She approaches coaching from the perspective of a working Casting Director, helping you identify choices you might not have thought about in preparation. By the time you walk out of your session, you will have the confidence to own the room and the ability to bring your best self to the audition.

  • James Eckhouse
    James EckhouseTeacher

    James has acted in well over a hundred films and TV shows and has performed on and Off-Broadway and in regional theaters across the country…starred opposite Bryan Cranston in the Tony Award winning drama ALL THE WAY…best known to TV audiences as Jim Walsh on the original BEVERLY HILLS 90210… directed several short films and in episodic TV including the award-winning drama ONCE AND AGAIN.

    James has been teaching for 12 years at various studios in LA. He trained at Chicago’s Second City and received his BFA in drama from The Juilliard School.

    Corey Parker, an acclaimed actor in his own right, has trained actors on and off Broadway, on TV, and in film for 17 years. He has coached Patrick Dempsey, Sean Combs, Annaleigh Ashford, Scoot McNairy, and many more. Corey studied with Uta Hagen and worked under the direction of Herbert Berghof in three productions at the HB Playwrights Foundation. Corey is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio and the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He worked with the Steppenwolf Theater Company and has appeared on stage at the Public Theater in NY where he worked with Joseph Papp, at Circle Rep where he worked with Lanford Wilson, at the St. James, the American Place, and the Mark Taper Forum, among others. He’s also worked extensively in film and television. Corey has taught at numerous studios, including HB Studio. He has taught for Susan Batson in New York and L.A., at Rhodes College, the University of Memphis, and the list goes on. He currently teaches regular classes in Nashville and Memphis, and whenever we can get him to join us at BGB in Los Angeles.

  • Felipe Figueroa
    Felipe FigueroaTeacher

    Felipe Figueroa is an actor that started in the world of musical theater- first in high school and then at NYU.  During and following school he performed in many regional theater stages and his favorite credit of all time is Paul in A CHORUS LINE (played it twice).  He took a hiatus from the business for 8 years and managed a dental office in Philadelphia which put money in the bank and helped pay his loans to NYU.  However, the art tugged at him and he moved to Los Angeles to re-ignite his career.  Favorite credits have been TRANSPARENT, LOPEZ and CRIMINAL MINDS. His favorite aspect of the work is finding his own voice in the script despite what the breakdown and the action lines say.

  • Will Doughty
    Will DoughtyTeacher

    Will Doughty brings passion and vision to his work that inspires performers to balance structure and freedom in their creative process. With 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry including television credits for NBC, Showtime and Comedy Central and a dozen national commercial campaigns, his classes are high energy, positive, supportive and empowering. Will has been guest teaching at the BGB Studio for over six years and is an advocate for freedom of expression. Will has studied and performed improv in Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, New York, Austin, and San Francisco. His LA training includes UCB, iOWest, and Second City. Will also co-produced and co-hosted Crashbar Improv weekly for 5 years, which has given birth to the annual LA Indie Improv Festival. Will challenges the improv form by bringing it to the script. His classes blend the spontaneity of improv with grounded scripted material, challenging actors to trust in their process and show up fully to their performance be it comedy or drama. He believes that an actor’s imagination is the defining factor in their craft.
