Are you tired of waiting for the Industry to come to you?

Constantly feel like you can’t be seen for the roles you are right for? Now is the time to take control of your career, expand the scope of your artistry, and forge your own career path by creating your own work.

The role of the actor starts the day you arrive on set and concludes when you finish shooting. But there is a much richer, collaborative, creative world out there that actors can be a part of by exploring the creation and execution of their own content. Writing for Actors 3 helps actor-writers- with a beginner’s foundation in writing- continue to hone their craft through lessons, mentorship, and workshopping, in order to complete a long-form project of their choosing. Be an actor who realizes their own work.

It’s time to actualize your creative ideas and dive into the process of writing.

For Actors, Writers + Directors with a prior foundation in writing. BY APPLICATION OR INVITATION.

Actors are storytellers by nature; your instincts for character, story, relationships, and intention are inherent in what you do every day. You have an ear for dialogue and you’re sensitive to the human experience. What better foundation is there for writing?

Writing for Actors 3 is an advanced 8-week writing class, taught by working writer, Olivia Cuartero-Briggs (Queen of the South, The Arrangement), that builds on the foundations and fundamentals of dramatic storytelling and outlining, to guide the class through the process of scripting a full-length project of your choosing. If you have a concept, characters, and outline for a story you would like to tell, Olivia will give you the tools to find your unique voice, bring that to the page, and create an opportunity for you to shine through your own work.

This class refreshes the basics of outlining and story structure, and offers advanced tools and methods of screenplay, play, teleplay, and web series writing, as well as insights into the Industry from the writer’s perspective. Actors/writers choose one long-form project to script on throughout the 8-week class for which they receive individualized instruction, readings, and workshopping to drive story, dig into character, and help create a vehicle for their unique voice and talents.

The final goal of this course is a solid, complete first draft of your chosen long-form project.

This class gives you a full writers’ tool kit for the creation of dynamic, entertaining, and driven dramatic (also comedic) work. You will leave with either a full draft of a screenplay, stage play, television pilot, or the first season of a web series, whichever you decide.

The Industry has changed. It’s not enough to just be an actor. It’s not enough to wait for permission to act. You must be a creator. You must be a leader. You must make work for yourself and fellow collaborators. You must be heard.
