Join Steve for these career and life-changing practices!
An Actor’s Consent: Navigating Vulnerable Spaces
June 5 at 12PM Pacific Time. 75 minutes.
This 75 minute seminar class with the amazing Intimacy Coordinator, Mia Schachter, will offer a framework for navigating intimate work in set, in rehearsal, on stage, and in class. It offers an understanding not just who is doing an action, but *who it’s for.* It’s about the agreement that we make with one another.
From Mia: We’ll talk about consent as more than just “permission,” but rather as a form of and a practice in communication: of boundaries, desires, limits, and needs. We’ll talk about generosity, gratitude, surrender, and integrity. We’ll talk about serving, accepting, allowing, and taking, and how to make sure everyone is on the same page about who is doing what and for whom. And this is for our work and for life.
We’ll talk about the difference between feeling uncomfortable vs unsafe. We will also discuss the intricacies of consent as being:
Freely given
Reversible
Informed
Enthusiastic
If you want to understand what intimacy work really is, what it means to give and ask for consent, and to advocate for yourself, these 75 minutes with Mia can change your life.
